Coconut, banana and chocolate shia/oat bowl!

It is breakfast time again! Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, I just love it! I find it really important to start my day with something nourishing filling and healthy, which keeps me energized through  the morning until lunch. That’s why I love to make breakfast bowls filled with different flavors and textures and bursting with goodness! When making the bowls I tend to switch between smoothie bowls, shia or oats or even mix it all up. After having discovered the overnight oats, I have become a big fan of the creamy wonderful texture. It is so easy to make and a super-speedy-on-the-go-breakfast too! All you have to do in the morning is to take the oats out of your fridge and place the topping that you like,voila! The blend of banana and coconut reminds me of happiness and summer, so yummy. Not to forget the cacao powder on the top, which makes the bowl even more perfect! In fact the whole thing tastes more like a dessert than a healthy breakfast! I also added some almonds and flaxseed oil for some extra goodness and a burst of protein, fibers and omega3.

Bananas are wonderful fruits with a high amount of fibers, magnesium and potassium which is an essential mineral for maintaining a normal blood pressure and heart function. They are also an exceptionally rich source of fructooligosaccharide, a compound called a prebiotic because it nourishes probiotic( friendly)  bacteria in the colon. These beneficial bacteria produce vitamin and digestive enzymes that produce ability to absorb nutrients, and compounds that protects us against unfriendly microorganisms. When  fructooligosaccharides are fermented by these friendly bacteria, not only do numbers of probiotic bacteria increase, but so does the body`s ability to absorb calcium. While oats are some of the best carbohydrates around as they contain a particularly awesome type of fibre which keeps you full for hours, lowers blood cholesterol and stabilizes blood sugar, shia seeds are pretty awesome too. Did you know that gram for gram they contain more calcium than milk, more potassium than bananas, more iron than spinach and more omega3 acids than wild salmon? Amazing super food right?! So a bowl of this creamy and rich goodness will fuel you up perfectly for any day!

Ingredients

Half glass oats

Two tablespoon sia seeds

Almond milk 

 One tablespoon shredded coconut

 A teaspoon raw cocoa powder

One banana

Seven almonds

 Soak the oats in plenty of almond milk and shia seeds and place it the fridge for the night. Take them out of the fridge and top it with the rest of the ingredients. Enjoy!
